For Academic Centers

Academic centers and invested individuals are doing groundbreaking research to support their populations, but academic organizations often struggle to share research and build partnerships beyond the academic bubble—beyond conference talks and journal paywalls and into the hands of policymakers.

When we work with academic audiences, we focus on best practices for translating scholarly research into more accessible and versatile formats and venues. The end goal is to get your work into the hands of policy-changers, from advocates and community members to lawmakers and fellow researchers. Examples include of potential deliverables include:

  • Creating supporting documents to illustrate research to a wider audience, including one-pagers, templates, and visuals

  • Organizing and running educational events on research and broader research topics, including webinars, panels, and virtual and in-person conference sessions

  • Leveraging findings and analysis into recommendations for state, local, and federal policy change

  • Congressional outreach and education, including briefings, meetings, and leave-behinds

  • Helping clients build connections with the broader research community outside academia, such as think tanks, advocacy organizations, and government

Masa Group is a social justice consulting firm that prioritizes supporting organizations, academic centers, and businesses that advocate for progressive policies at the state, local, and federal levels. We previously worked with several academic centers, including the U.S. Immigration Policy Center at UC San Diego, the Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute at the George Washington University, the Im/migrant Well-Being Research Center at the University of Southern Florida, and Center on Privacy and Technology at Georgetown Law, to identify, develop, distribute, and publicize their research with key stakeholders, including the public, advocates, media, and government officials.
